Aussie Environmental have been installing a range of erosion control products for over 10 years. Coir Blankets

Coir Blankets are a biodegradable blanket made from 100% natural coconut fibre. Coir is an abundant and renewable resource, increasingly used throughout the civil and landscape industries in applications such as slope stabilisation, re-vegetation and bio-engineering. These blankets intercept runoff from heavy rains and dissipate the energy of water and wind. Coir fibre promotes the growth of vegetation by absorbing water and preventing soil evaporation. Coir fibre is different to other natural fibres due to it’s very high lignin content, which increases the fibres strength and longevity. Coir blankets therefore have a longer life expectancy than other organic textiles and can last up to 2-3 years depending on climatic conditions. Coir blankets are a superior alternative to jute mat.

Coir Mesh

Aussie Environmental Coir Mesh is a natural fibre mesh made from 100% natural coconut fibre that is spun and woven into various grades. Coir Mesh is an open weave geotextile that is fully biodegradable adding organic matter to the soil. Coir is an abundant and renewable resource, widely used in civil engineering and for land and slope stabilisation applications. When vegetated, it has the mechanical strength necessary to hold soil in place and prevent erosion. The coir netting breaks up runoff from heavy rains and dissipates the energy of flowing water and wind. Coir Mesh also promotes the growth of new vegetation by absorbing water and preventing the topsoil from drying out. Additionally, Aussie Environmental Coir Mesh is a great deterrent to lay down to prevent native wildlife such as Brush Turkeys from scratching up your garden.



Coir Mesh has double the life of jute mesh and a higher tensile strength than other organic geotextiles.  With a longevity of up to 3 years, this allows ample time for natural vegetation to establish and therefore stabilise the area.

Jute Matting

Aussie Environmental Jute Matting is used for the stabilisation of embankments or batters and to inhibit weed growth during the establishment of re-vegetation.



Jute mat is 100% organic and is the traditional erosion control blanket used to protect soils in areas exposed to wind or high rainfall. The innate characteristic of “moulding” to the ground, allows the jute mat to reduce moisture loss from the soil which in turn aids in the growth of desired plants. It has a life expectancy varying from 10 to 18 months depending on grade and climatic conditions.

Jute Mesh

Jute Mesh is a biodegradable organic mesh similar to Jute Matting but constructed with a loose, open weave. Jute Mesh is useful on embankments and batters that have an existing vegetation cover. It helps retain moisture and allows water and light infiltration to encourage vegetation growth.



Jute Mesh has a life expectancy of 6-12 months depending on climatic conditions.

Geofabric

Geofabric is a permeable, synthetic fabric which when used in association with soil, has the ability to separate, filter, reinforce and protect or drain. Geofabrics and related products have numerous functions and currently support many civil engineering applications, including roads and drainage.

How do I install erosion control meshes, blankets and mats?

You will find detailed installation information on the product pages.

Does Aussie Environmental offer an installation service for erosion control blankets and mesh?

Yes we do, depending on where you are located. Please contact us on 07 5315 5431 or email info@aussieenvironmental.com.au if you live outside this area so we can determine if we are able to service your requirements.

How much should I allow for overlap when joining products?

You should allow 100mm for overlapping and extra retaining pins to hold the join.

What size retaining pins will I need to install the erosion control blankets or meshes?

Our retaining pins come in 4 sizes - 100mm, 150mm, 200mm and 300mm. The size of the pins required will depend on the hardness of the ground you are working in. If the ground is very soft you will need longer pins while for harder ground you will require shorter pins.

How many Retaining pins will I need to install erosion control blankets or meshes?

The amount of pins required will depend on how steep the area is. For flat areas we recommend 1-2 pins per m2 and for steeper areas we advise using an average of 3-4 pins per m2.
